Jayden Daniels Injury Update: Commanders QB to Miss Week 3
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will miss at least the team’s Week 3 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks after suffering another injury to his left elbow.
Daniels dislocated his left elbow during Washington’s 37–20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. The injury occurred late in the first half when Daniels fell while attempting to make a play near the goal line.
The Commanders confirmed that Daniels underwent additional imaging following the injury. Head coach Dan Quinn said Monday that the quarterback will consult with specialists, but the team does not yet have a timetable for his return.
The injury is particularly significant because Daniels suffered a dislocation to the same elbow last season, an injury that caused him to miss seven of Washington’s final eight games.
Marcus Mariota to Start
With Daniels unavailable, Marcus Mariota is expected to start at quarterback when Washington faces Seattle in Week 3.
Mariota took over against Dallas after Daniels left the game and completed 11 of 16 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.
For now, the Commanders are waiting for further medical evaluations before determining when Daniels can return.
What Happens Next?
Washington will monitor Daniels closely as he meets with specialists. The Commanders have not announced a long-term timetable, meaning his availability beyond Week 3 remains uncertain.
Savorat will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
